Architects name California, Massachusetts and New Jersey as most energy-efficient states in recent survey
Ekotrope, Inc. recently conducted a survey of architects about their thoughts on energy efficiency in residential construction. California emerged on top, followed by Massachusetts and New Jersey, respectively. Perhaps the results are not surprising, given the longstanding history of energy innovation in these states. But it does beg the question – for architects who design energy-efficient homes in any of these states, how can they be certain that they’re designing to fit both the homeowners’ desires and the multitude of regulations regarding energy efficiency in these states?
HomeSEED by Ekotrope has the goal of helping architects address that exact problem by doing the research for them. State code requirements from California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and other states are pre-built into the product. Architects simply input their desired outcomes into HomeSEED, which figures out the optimal – in terms of cost, energy efficiency, and adherence to local codes – configuration for any residential design. Additionally, HomeSEED includes standards required by Federal codes, so architects can feel confident that their design meets energy requirements at every level without having to expend the time to cross-check this information. This means more accurate designs, delivered faster – an outcome that benefits architects and homeowners.
